Are you covered for SR22 car insurance if….?
Howie : Am I covered with SR22 auto insurance if I drive any car with permission?
Response : Howie, the SR22 auto insurance coverage would differ from each general auto insurance company and also the prevaling state laws for SR22, however you would be covered by most general auot insurance companies and as per most state laws, when you drive a car with premission. This regulation is as per the normal regualtion of the an ordinary car insurance policy. However, the damage to the vehicle would be covered by the auto insurance policy of the person to whom the car belongs.
Your SR22 auto insurance would provide the liablity coverage but not the auto damage.
If you have a ‘Non-Owners’ SR22 then coverage is limited to your personal operation of a vehicle not owned to you or a family member.
You can get a direct insurance quote for an SR22 policy here. We do not offer an online SR22 in all states.
In order to get the general price for an SR22 you need to get a quote. Generally, an SR22 costs an additional $15-$30 filing fee above and beyond your insurance rate.
Here is a tip, if you are required to carry SR22 auto insurance for drunk driving, it is best to drive your own car and have an ignition steering lock installed, so that you do not fall in this trap of high risk driver any more. Remember that if is easy to get involved in SR22 auto insurance requirement but difficult to get out of it. You normally end up paying SR22 auto insurance for almost 5-10 years, once you fall within the trap of this.
Drive safe.
Thanks.
