Saj : North Dakota : I live in North Dakota and I was recently caught under DUI convictions. Please let me know what my DUI car insurance rate will be ?

Response : Saj, the first best thing to do is to get hold of a lawyer and ask him to help you with the legal matters in this. I know DUI convictions is something which is not pleasant. Let me inform you that the state in which you live North Dakota is one of the most expensive state in which the regulations for DUI or drunk driving are very very strick. North Dakota’s Department of Transportation says a driver’s first drunken-driving offense can cost up to $10,000.

DUI insurance can cost a driver $6,600 in higher insurance rates and $2,500 in attorney and court fees. Then there’s a $250 minimum fine, a $300 alcohol evaluation, money for towing charges, and a victim impact fee. The insurance rates for this convictions are very high. It would be important for you to take up this matter seriously and to see that you are not caught againfor a DUI conviction otherwise your license can be suspended.

You will also have to start taking some preventive measures like going in a cab if you feel that you are drunk, or getting a ignition steering lock installed so that you would not drink and drive. For an affordable or inexpensive SR22 car insurance quote of affordable DUI quote you must shop around for insurance quotes. With the internet and options of the numerous insurance companies this is going to be very easy. Please also see other articles on DUI car insurance given here to know more about how to get better auto insurance rates and also to change your driving habits.

As per the latest news in the Insurance journal ” Nelson says the biggest reason not to drink and drive is to avoid traffic injuries and deaths. But he says the cost information may resonate with some people when other arguments don’t.
Highway Patrol commander Col. James Prochniak says law enforcement agencies across the state will be stepping up their drunken driving enforcement from Dec. 18 through Jan. 3″

Be extra careful in the holiday season and do not drink and drive.

Need DUI car insurance for teenagers?

Jonathan : My son had some beer last night (claims just two but…) and at three this morning decided to run his friends home. Stopped and breathalised, failed taken to the police station and (very rural location so no nearby machine) was asked to provide a blood sample. It took the Doctor about an hour to arrive and take the blood. About 5 minutes later they gave him another breath test which he passed, so they returned his keys and let me take him home. He says the machine they used gave a digital readout and indicated 41 at the roadside initially, and 33 on the same hand-held machine after the blood test. My questions are:

How accurate are these digital read-out breathalyzers?

When they analyse his blood sample, will they back-calculate, or take the reading as it stands? Will his car insurance premium and will he need SR22 car insurance or DUI car insurance?

Response : If your son is charged with a DUI convictions than he would definetly be rated as a high risk drver and he would need DUI car insurance. Secondly, whether he needs SR22 car insurance or not would depend on the fact that he was involved in an accident or if he was driving without insurance or if his driving license is suspended.

The breathalyzers the police use are stringently tested before they are approved for use by the Home Office, they are usually accurate and reliable. The blood samples alcohol level will not be back calculated to the time of the suspected offence, it will be used and analyzed as is.

By the sounds of things, your son may have every chance that his blood test will come back below the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood. Having said that, there really is no way to predict what the outcome will be with any amount of accuracy. Especially when breathalyzer readings show that the BAC (blood alcohol content) level was so close to the legal limit and being marginally under the legal limit on the second reading.

Whether your son will be prosecuted or not will rest upon the blood alcohol content of the blood sample provided for analysis.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks

Aggressive driving is high risk

John Resse : I am sometimes an aggressive driver and will this be considered high risk. Can you give me an example. Will I need SR22 insurance, DUI car insurance or high risk insurance?

Response : Aggressive driving is also considred high risk and would require the quotes from high risk insurers which are the same as DUI insurance or SR22 insurance. If you are already an aggressive driver you need to be careful since some times when you are angry or aggressive when driving it can cause a problem. Let me give here a recent example of aggressive driving from a celebrity.

“Tiger Woods caused $3,200 in property damage, wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was driving erratically outside his Florida home before crashing into a tree, according to a report. The six-page report only describes the accident and does not include statements from Woods, his wife, Elin Nordegren, or witnesses. It also includes 105 photos of the accident scene.
The report’s release came just hours after the world’s No. 1 golfer put out a statement saying he had let his family down with “transgressions” he regrets “with all of my heart.” The final accident report shows Woods didn’t just hit a fire hydrant and tree.
Upon leaving his driveway, Woods’ vehicle rubbed up against a line of bushes, crossed over a curb, onto a grass median and into a row of hedges before swerving left into the hydrant and crashing into the tree, an illustration in the report shows. Woods’ vehicle was traveling 30 mph in a 25 mph zone. Damage to the SUV was estimated at $8,000. Photographs of the accident were taken by security officers in the Isleworth community, a neighbor and troopers. The photos show damage to both front sides of the Cadillac Escalade, and the windows on the back passenger doors were broken.
Nordegren told Windermere police she used a golf club to smash the back windows to help Woods get out.
The Florida Highway Patrol closed its inquiry into the crash Tuesday. Woods, who refused to talk to authorities, was charged with careless driving, which carries a $164 fine and four points on his driving record.

This incident has really put Tiger Woods to have a bad driving record for now and earmarked his auto insurance rate to be very high, which would be near high risk category. If you drive like this again and again you are likely to be included in the same category as high risk driver and DUI car insurance quotes. You always need to be careful on the road.

Thanks.

DUI insurance is considred high risk.

Leslie Rodhe : Why are penalties for drinking and driving so strict? Why do insurance companies and traffic authorities try to stop drunk driving or driving under influence and penalize with DUI insurance, high risk insurance or SR22 car insurance?

Response : Drinking and driving is a hazardous combination. It is proved beyond any doubt that drunk driving causes auto accidents and high fatalities. In fact to take the scope beyond the auto insurance liqour liablity insurance is taken which is known as host liqour liablity.
CONSIDER THESE FACTS:
• One third of the fatalities in involve impaired or intoxicated drivers and pedestrians,
• With increased Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), crash risk increases sharply. A driver with a BAC of 0.08 is four times as likely to cause a crash as a driver who has not been drinking, while a driver with a BAC of 0.16 is 25 times as likely to do so.
• Young drinking drivers are at the highest risk of all. Drivers 20 years old or younger are almost three times as likely to be involved in alcohol related fatal crashes than other drivers.

Now the insurance companies, the law enforcement agencies, the state goverment and even the social organizations want to prevent drunk driving and accidents, DUI insurance so the laws are very strict. The insurance companies lose a lot of money on these accidents and the frequency and severity of claims is very high and so they are rated as high risk drivers. Please avoid drunk driving especially during the holiday season, when the chances are very high for the same.

Thanks.
Happy Motoring.

Jerry White : What is a deductible under auto insurance and is it the same for SR22 car insurance, dui insurance or high risk insurance?

Response : Under auto insurance a deductible is the amount of money you are obligated to pay as a result of an accident and is deducted from the initial claim payment. If a policyholder has purchased the Waiver of Deductible Endorsement, the deductible amount for Collision Coverage will not apply under certain circumstances. These specific circumstances include:
1. The auto was legally parked when struck by another auto owned by an identified person
2. The auto was struck in the rear by another auto moving in the same direction and owned by an identified person
3. The operator of the other auto was convicted of any of the following violations:
Operating under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or a narcotic drug
Driving the wrong way on a one-way street
Operating at an excessive rate of speed
Any similar violation of any similar law of another state in which the accident occurs.

However, we will not pay if the operator of your covered auto was also convicted of one of the violations
4. You are entitled to recover in court against an identified person for some reason other than those listed above

Now with reference to DUI car insurance if you are driving the car under influence and if an accident happens, you would be liable for it and will have to pay the deductible of the opposite driver.Secondly when you have a DUI conviction, have SR22 insurance or are a high rsik driver, the insurance company may also approve your auto insurance quote subject to a high deductible. Or else you might want a higher deductible to reduce the premium and get affordable sr22 quote or a cheaper dui insurance quote.
