How can epilepsy be related to high auto insurance risk?
24 Jones : My wife has epilepsy, will this be considered as high risk driver and will she have to take high auto insurance quotes? Will she able to retain her driving license? Will she require SR22 car insurance quotes? Why do you think the auto insurance companies are doing this to a person who is sick, is it right?
Epilepsyand high risk auto insurance
Response : High risk driver is one who is prone to accidents. Epiliepsy is unfortunately a sickness which affects the nervous sytem and the person suffering from eplipsey has no control on the nervous system and either becomes unconcious or is not capable of having conrtol over their own body and motor skills at the time of a seizure. In this state the likelihood and the risk of accident or probability of accidents is highest and so it is natural that this person is a high risk driver or requires high risk auto insurance. Now, whether sr22 car insurance is required or not would depend on the frequency of the person having been involved in accidents or against the law wherein the DMV authorities make it mandatory to have SR22 insurance.
You need to also be aware of a fact that auto insurance can also be difficult to obtain. An assigned-risk
insurance pool is available in about 25 states, but the cost is higher than an average insurance policy. If a patient decides to drive against medical advice while restricted, the auto insurance policy may not cover claims incurred during that time. This is a major risk that most people with epilepsy are unaware of.It is necessary to read the conditions on the policy and to understand them at all times.
For someone who has seizures, living without a driver’s license can be one of the most difficult adjustments he or she has to make. Where you live, your choice of a job, your social interactions, your basic independence can be affected by not being able to drive.
State governments try to balance the rights of individuals and the right of the public to have safe highways. Each state has developed its own rules for issuing driver’s licenses. Your doctor can help you determine whether you can safely drive and whether you meet the requirements for a driver’s license in your particular state. You wife will be able to get a license provided she is declared fit to drive by the doctor and this would be regularly reviewed depending upon the state you live in.
Its best to think of safety first rather than driving when you have some health problems. Remember that certain restrictions are for our own good and to help us avioid being a high risk deriver requiring high risk auto insurance or sr22 insurance and so we need to respect and abide them.
Thanks.
