DUI insurance is considred high risk.
Leslie Rodhe : Why are penalties for drinking and driving so strict? Why do insurance companies and traffic authorities try to stop drunk driving or driving under influence and penalize with DUI insurance, high risk insurance or SR22 car insurance?
Response : Drinking and driving is a hazardous combination. It is proved beyond any doubt that drunk driving causes auto accidents and high fatalities. In fact to take the scope beyond the auto insurance liqour liablity insurance is taken which is known as host liqour liablity.
CONSIDER THESE FACTS:
• One third of the fatalities in involve impaired or intoxicated drivers and pedestrians,
• With increased Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), crash risk increases sharply. A driver with a BAC of 0.08 is four times as likely to cause a crash as a driver who has not been drinking, while a driver with a BAC of 0.16 is 25 times as likely to do so.
• Young drinking drivers are at the highest risk of all. Drivers 20 years old or younger are almost three times as likely to be involved in alcohol related fatal crashes than other drivers.
Now the insurance companies, the law enforcement agencies, the state goverment and even the social organizations want to prevent drunk driving and accidents, DUI insurance so the laws are very strict. The insurance companies lose a lot of money on these accidents and the frequency and severity of claims is very high and so they are rated as high risk drivers. Please avoid drunk driving especially during the holiday season, when the chances are very high for the same.
Thanks.
Happy Motoring.
